Rewarding in International Human Rights Law?

Compliance in international law remains a challenge and the search to understand whether why states comply with human rights endures as well. This essay endorses van Aaken Simsek's contention that rewarding is an important yet underexplored mechanism for ensuring compliance law, but suggests certain features of may make less apposite sphere three interrelated reasons.
